“We’re here!” yelled one of the rats.


Slacker was comfortably sleeping on the top of a hatbox, when one of the rats in the luggage area of the bus yelled at the top of his lungs.

“Where?” Slacker asked.

“Station 22,” the rat replied.

Jimmy had given Slacker very specific directions.

Get off at Station 22, walk directly across the street to the ice rink. From there you’ll be able to see the buildings. Head towards the street and it’ll take you straight to the lab. Can’t miss it.

“What do you need?” Petri asked.

“A couple of my friends have gone missing. I can’t seem to find them,” the distraught rat said.

“When was the last time you saw them? Where did you last see them? Do you remember what day it was?” Petri asked.

“Yeah, last week. Over near the park, where all the business folk eat lunch on their breaks,” the rat continued.

“Okay, okay, what’s your name by the way?”

“Sorry, it’s Trey, my name’s Trey.”

“Okay,” Petri continued, “I just need a couple more things from you and I’ll get working on it.”

Dutch was new in town and started to count his blessings that he had just met Slacker when…

“Slacker…what do you think you’re doing?” Jimmy Two Shakes asked walking up behind him.

Slacker took a deep breath.

“Now, Slacky, you KNOW that this is my part of town and ANYBODY new, and I mean ANYBODY new sees me first, right? Jimmy continued.

“You see her eyes?” Spike pointed out.

“Yeah, what about them?” Peanut asked.

“They tell you all you need to know. See how they’re big and yellow. They’re a dead giveaway,” Spike said as they watched from around the corner, anxiously watching her every move.

Tabby the Big Cat ruled this part of the neighborhood. She let all the rats know that this was HER turf. Spike and Peanut were always on the lookout when they went hunting for food.

Specifically on the lookout for Tabby.
